Client: Friends of Music Hall
Project: Educational Print Materials Honoring Local History
Type: Print & Educational Design / Community Engagement
Size: 8.5 x 5.5 / Flat / two-sided
Tools Used: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Objective: To design educational collateral that both teaches and celebrates the city's rich cultural history, making it accessible and engaging for a wide audience. The materials aimed to support local events, school programs, or community initiatives, serving as a resource for learning and civic pride.
Role: I led the project from concept to completion, including research-informed layout design, custom illustration, and print production coordination. The visual style honored the city’s heritage while maintaining a clean, contemporary feel—bridging past and present. I collaborated with local historians, educators, and internal stakeholders to ensure factual accuracy and age-appropriate content.
Results:
• Materials distributed to schools, libraries, and community centers
• Supported local programming tied to history-themed events or initiatives
• Enhanced awareness of lesser-known local stories and historical figures
• Positive feedback from educators and families for clarity, design, and tone
Take Away: This project highlighted the value of design in making local history accessible and meaningful. I learned to balance factual storytelling with visual engagement, ensuring the content was both educational and inspiring. It also reinforced the impact of well-crafted collateral in strengthening community identity and lifelong learning.
